Rc Transferrin

Rc Transferrin

Transferrin is a liver expressed, blood plasma glycoprotein that controls the level of free iron in biological fluids by binding reversibly and transporting iron to cells. It is 679 amino acids long — expressed in Pichia Pastoris (non-glycosylated sequence) — and facilitates extracellular iron storage and transport, forming the most vital iron pool with the highest rate of turnover. Transferrin mediated iron import is controlled via regulated expression of Transferrin receptors on cells.
